Dear Schwab Customer Service Representative,
Enclosed please find a copy of the article from our local newspaper. I outlined in red the exact location of my office.
Also enclosed are the horrific pictures I took of the interior damage (to our office). Your two FIREPROOF file cabinets are the ONLY really identifiable objects to be seen. Besides being so thankful everything inside them made it through the fire, next I was extremely satisfied with how long it took my two friends and I to pry open the drawers with a mini sledge hammer, crowbar and chisel due to the locks being melted down against the cabinet. I always wondered how effective they would be against a burglar...WOW did they ever pass the test.

On February 8, 1989 an early morning fire destroyed the building and office contents of B&B Welding Company., Inc.
As the news media questioned the status of our extensive computer system I realized the diskettes were stored nightly in the fire files.
Late in the day a fire inspector appeared at the scene. I confronted him concerning the files and he very carefully accompanied me into the burned premises. There amid the rubble stood our two Schwab files, their once shining black enamel finish was now blistered and buckled from the heat. I inserted the key, pulled out the drawers one at a time. The diskettes had not melted, all corporate papers were intact.

Five fireproof filing cabinets purchased from your company survived the natural fire disaster, containing loan documents vital to Bank of the Sierra's survival as well as all the bank's history contained in board minutes dating back to the founding of the Bank. On June 13, 1998, Cole Hardwood, Inc. had a horrible fire, and we lost ten buildings, including the office.
We had previously purchased three of the Schwab fireproof safes, and they were in the upstairs office. These safes fell to the ground, and still survived the fire. We were amazed at the quality of the contents.
I am very impressed that these safes held up under such intense heat. I would highly recommend any business owner to purchase this safe to protect their business records.

On March 5, 1990, the Jamestown, Kentucky City Hall was destroyed in an electrical fire.
Our City had purchased Schwab fire proof files and vaults in 1989 from a local dealer. We were pleased and amazed at the condition of our records when they were removed. This came as an unexpected, pleasant surprise at a time when our entire City was at a loss.

Now that the fire which destroyed my office is many months behind me, I realize even more now than at the time how much I owe to my Schwab filing cabinet. I kept all my client files and my computer disks in my fireproof cabinet which withstood the intense heat of the fire and even the fall to the cement floor of the basement level of the building. I was amazed that the paper files were intact but even more astonished to find that I was able to retrieve the data from the computer disks.
Other occupants of the building were not so fortunate. I have watched other firms struggle to reconstruct records and particularly the law firms which lost valuable legal documents. These firms will continue to be handicapped by this loss which has affected their client base built up over many years and will affect their earnings for many years in the future.
Disks and equipment can be insured and replaced easily, but the client information is the heart of my practice and I must say that the Schwab cabinet has proved that it is the best insurance I could possibly have against the loss of this information.

Our building burned to the ground on 2/27/85. Our entire data files were stored in your safe. Although the temperature reached 4000 degrees, and the fire sustained for two days, our records were intact when the safe was opened.

The Station Blackout Project at Northern States Power Company's Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant suffered the misfortune of an office fire on February 11, 1991.
The loss to our project was devastating; our only glimmer of light was the survival of our project files thanks to our Schwab fire rated filing cabinets.
We had thirteen fully loaded fire files. All our records survived. We are eternally grateful.

Date: February 15, 1989
On February 15, 1989, Patio Foods was destroyed by fire. The fire completely destroyed the building, equipment, and contents at the restaurant. A fire inspector determined the cause of the fire originated in the basement area approximately 15 feet from the office and our Schwab safe. He determined this by locating the "hot spot" in the building. The heat of the fire was so intense it buckled and warped steel support beams 3/8 inch thick.
Everything was completely destroyed except our Schwab safe and its contents. Items salvaged in our safe included; recipes, check book, the nights receipts, rolls of coin, and some of our corporate records. Two ordinary file cabinets located next to or Schwab safe were completely destroyed along with their contents. I will definitely purchase a Schwab product again.

We recently experienced a devastating fire at our business. On May 9, 1991 an explosion occurred burning our warehouse and office structure to the ground. Our fire-proof safes were a bit charred, but everything inside was completely unharmed.

Well, I never thought I would be writing a letter like this. Most people, me included, think it can never happen to them.
I have always sold our product with confidence that if a fire occurred the records stored within would be protected. I was also quick to point out what the loss of such vital records would mean. Now I can give a first hand testimony. On January 19, 1999 our house burnt. We lost almost everything. However, my two Schwab fire resistant files came thru with flying colors. They successfully protected not only our vital documents but also irreplaceable family pictures. My husband is such a believer he has told everybody the two things they really shouldn't do without are smoke detectors and Schwab fire files. If anybody doubts the need for such protection, they can give me a call. I'll be able to give a personal account of how devastating a fire can be and how important it is to open your file and find things such as insurance documents, birth certificates and family pictures.
Thanks for providing a product that does what it claims. If I didn't believe before, I certainly do now!
